Dessa AI is an online voice studio that holds real-time spoken conversations with you and reads written scripts aloud in natural-sounding voices. Dessa AI runs in the browser, so there is no app to install. Open the page, give Dessa AI access to your microphone, choose a voice and say hello.
Dessa AI hears you while it is speaking. Break in halfway through a sentence, change the subject or ask a follow-up, and it adjusts straight away.
Live Talk offers 22 voices in Mandarin, English, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese. Dessa AI adds 24 Text to Speech voices that read 39 languages.
Give Dessa AI up to 5,000 characters of narration, course material or ad copy. It reads the text in your chosen voice and keeps a 44.1 kHz WAV in your account.
Dessa AI measures calls in 6-second steps and returns unused prepaid time when you hang up. A Text to Speech script costs 1 credit per 160 characters.

Dessa AI is a voice studio you use in the browser on a computer or phone. It has two main tools: Live Talk, a real-time spoken conversation with an AI voice, and Text to Speech, which turns a written script into a WAV file.
Common uses of Dessa AI include speaking practice in another language, rehearsing for job interviews and talking through an idea out loud. Creators use Dessa AI Text to Speech for video narration, course audio, podcast intros and ad reads.
Dessa AI has no free plan. You pay with credits from a subscription or a credit pack. Live Talk uses 10 credits per minute, counted every 6 seconds, with a 15-second minimum per call. A web search during a call uses 2 credits. Text to Speech uses 1 credit per 160 characters. Subscription credits renew monthly and lapse at the end of the month, while pack credits never expire.
Dessa AI is an independent studio and is not run by Block, the maker of the Dessa voice model. That model has no public API yet, so Dessa AI does not run on it today: Live Talk uses GPT-Live-1, and Text to Speech and voice cloning use HeyGen Voice. If the API opens, we plan to add it to Dessa AI.
Yes. Speech made with paid credits can go into commercial work such as YouTube videos, podcasts, courses and ads, and it has no watermark. You are responsible for your script, and you may not use Dessa AI to impersonate a real person.
Your microphone streams only while a Dessa AI call is active, and recordings of calls are not kept. Captions stay in your browser tab and are gone when you leave. Text to Speech files are private to your account, and you can delete them whenever you want.
Live Talk offers 22 voices, and a call lasts up to 20 to 90 minutes depending on your plan. Text to Speech offers 24 voices, detects 39 languages from your script and accepts 2,000 to 5,000 characters per script. Dessa AI exports speech as 44.1 kHz WAV.
No. When a call cannot connect or a script fails to generate, Dessa AI returns the credits automatically. Calls are charged in 30-second blocks ahead of use, and any time left unused goes back to your balance when the call ends.
